Car rental: Yes & No. St Lucia is an exciting destination
with many things to see, do, and experience, and if you want
to make the most of your trip, you will certainly find it
more economical to rent a car than to consistently take
taxis all over the island. In St. Lucia, drivers STAY to the
left hand side of the road like they do in the United
Kingdom. Drive-a-matic is based at the airport but they can
come to the villa to issue a license and drop/pick up the
car. They can also arrange for you to pick up and drop off
at the airport. They are very flexible in their
arrangements.
You need a special driver’s license to drive in St. Lucia
- Cost is $20 USD or $54 EC. The permit is good for as many
as three months. If you already possess an international
driving permit, you will still need to have it stamped at
either Hewanorra International Airport on the southern end
of the island or George F.L. Charles Airport, located in
Castries. Car rentals start from $38 US a day. |
